The Legend of Princess is a freeware fan game released in 2009 by Swedish developer Joakim "Konjak" Sandberg, who would later create Iconoclasts. Conceived as a love letter to The Legend of Zelda, it answers a long-running fan question: what would A Link to the Past look like if it had kept Zelda II's side-scrolling perspective instead of returning to a top-down view? Players control Bind, a hero in a green tunic, who sets out to rescue the princess from the Dirt Temple.

Sandberg describes it on his own site as a single-level arcade interpretation, and that framing is accurate — the whole game is one dungeon that runs about fifteen minutes. Within that span it packs in block-pushing puzzles, Zelda-style items and boss fights against the likes of Dark Link and Phantom Ganon, all rendered in lavish Game Boy Advance-style pixel art. It is a short tribute with Metroidvania trappings rather than a full interconnected Metroidvania, and it remains freely downloadable from konjak.org.
